CHRISTMAS CRACKERS!!

Christmas crackers or bon-bons are an integral part of Christmas celebrations in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries such as AustraliaCanadaNew Zealand and South Africa. They are also popular in Ireland. A cracker consists of a cardboard tube wrapped in a brightly decorated twist of paper, making it resemble an oversized sweet-wrapper. The cracker is pulled by two people, and, much in the manner of a wishbone, the cracker splits unevenly. The split is accompanied by a small bang or snapping sound produced by the effect of friction on a chemically impregnated card strip (similar to that used in a cap gun).
Crackers are typically pulled at the Christmas dinner table or at parties. In one version of the cracker tradition, the person with the larger portion of cracker empties the contents from the tube and keeps them. In another each person will have their own cracker and will keep its contents regardless of whose end they were in. Typically these contents are a coloured paper hat or crown; a small toy, small plasticmodel or other trinket and a motto, a joke or piece of trivia on a small strip of paper.

European Day of Languages

On September 26th all European countries celebrate the European Day of Languages, that is why our students have taken part in a variety of activities that have made them aware of the richness of languages and cultures we have in our school.

We have chosen our favourite words in our mother tongues and have used them in sentences or verses so that  that we could all understand their true meaning.

We have also chosen the most multilingual classes in the school: in five of them  9 or more different languages were present.

The results of these activities are on display at the school entrance.  ENJOY THEM!

CANADA CELEBRATION

How much do you know about Canada?

You can ask Peter Sawyer, our language assistant, but you can also find information about this beautiful country on the panels, right at the school entrance.
On Friday, February 24th, we celebrated the end of our Canada project with a sample of traditional line dancing.

Congrats to the brave 4th ESO-E students who entertained us during the break!!
